The supporting role and contribution of energy and environmental science and technology are becoming increasingly significant in implementing this strategy. In order to strengthen academic and technical exchanges among experts, scholars, enterprise managers, and technical personnel in related fields, and promote the transformation and application of related technologies, the "Fourth National Conference on Energy and Environmental Science and Technology" was held in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province from June 21 to June 24, 2024, hosted by the Energy and Environment Professional Committee of the China Energy Society, undertaken by Nanchang University, and co organized by the Institute of Applied Chemistry, Jiangxi Academy of Sciences.

The theme of this conference is energy and environmental science and technology guided by the "dual carbon" goal. Based on the current national industrial layout and development plan, the aim is to focus on promoting new discoveries and technologies in energy and environmental science aimed at the "dual carbon" goal, such as the latest technological advances in green and low-carbon industries such as energy-saving and environmentally friendly new material manufacturing, photovoltaic new energy conversion, CO2 fixation and resource utilization, biomass development and application, while also considering the promotion of alternative materials, technologies and processes that can achieve the "dual carbon" goal in traditional industrial fields. Thus, with a "dual carbon" orientation, we will gather recent scientific and technological hotspots in the fields of energy and environment in academia and industry, promote cross-border communication and cooperation, and further enhance the contribution of energy and environmental science and technology to promoting the implementation of the "dual carbon" national development strategy.
